Level 7 Final project sep-dec 2011

Well, we got to the third term. Time to work on finishing the project. But what's the project about? well, we are designing a campaign for our most important event. "Chinita's Fair". This time the products created for the campaign will be exhibit it in our URBE EFL Center in SL.

An advertising campaign is a specific course of action designed to advertise a company, cause, or product that employs an intentional and carefully coordinated series of marketing tools in order to reach the target audience. The end purpose of any ad campaign is to boost awareness of the subject matter and generate demand. The exact structure of the advertising campaign will often depend on the nature of the product or cause and the target audience that the campaign is designed to reach.
While specifics vary from one advertising campaign to another, some of the same tools are used in just about any campaign. Both print and electronic media are often used to generate attention and enthusiasm for the subject of the campaign, often with the logical and timely launch of different tools at specific points in the overall campaign. While in time past, electronic media referred more to television and radio broadcasts, that component now includes tools such as online banner ads, text messaging, and email advertisements.

We have to thank professor Nuris Zambrano for the help she gave us in this project. On her visit to our class she left us some guidelines on how to work with a campaign:

Graphic Concept:
Selecting key words
2- 3 meaningful terms
Singtagmatic relation
Rhetoric

Main features of the event:
Composition: format orientation, diagram and reticule

Design determiners:
selecting the image style
color
fonts
graphic elements
Graphems
Visual rhetoric
Semiotics
Advertising: message alignment and heading
PNL

Final Project Groups:
Group Number 1
Mariangela Boscan, Claret Cuberos, Jennifer Drumond and Jennifer Godoy.

Group Number 2
Andrea Finol, Andrea Suarez, Mauricio Martinez and Jennifer Peña.

Group Number 3
Victor Aular

Group Number 4
Leonardo Reyes

Group Number 5
Henry Maldonado, Giovanna Hernandez and Claudia Flores.

Group Number 6
Emigdio Herrera and Vanessa Villamizar.

Stand 7
Maria marcano, Arnaldo Lugo and Patricia Zabala.

Stand 8
Manuel MarquezMaria Bravo, Gustavo Rosales and Naykely Parra

Stand 9
Marysol Rincon, Juan Calixto, Andreina Alves, Andrea Ochoa, Claudia Briceño, Eddie Hernandez

The exhibition of the projects will take place in Second Life. Each group must have a stand to exhibit their proposal for the campaign in world (second life at URBE EFL Center in SL). The stand must include the products designed as well as a description of the project. Include the names of the participants and their avatars.

Students will post their projects in their blogs individually: products, description of the project, individual participation and their opinion of the project. Images and opinions of the experience in Second Life. Images of the Avatars and their names.

Well, this is going to be fun! See you in SL!

Mind maps... How to ...

For our project we should use mind maps to visualize what we want to communicate. This is what Wikipedia define as a Mind map:
mind map is a diagram used to represent wordsideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generatevisualizestructure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying andorganizing information, solving problemsmaking decisions, writing and speaking. The elements of a given mind map are arranged intuitively according to the importance of the concepts, and are classified into groupings, branches, or areas, with the goal of representing semantic or other connections between portions of information. Mind maps may also aid recall of existing memories.
Now, this is an interesting video that shows up how to create a mind map:

      Chinita's fair is almost here!!!

Let's celebrate our Zulianity by writing in our blogs about our dear Patroness "Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá". She is also the patron saint of Colombia, and the town of Caraz in Peru.

In Maracaibo we celebrate the Chinita's fair in November with an all-night party. The Chinita’s fair officially begins on October 27th when the Virgin is taken down from the altar in which she rests. She tours all over the Zulia State and returns to the Basilica to start all the religious festivities. Other cultural activities are held during the fair. Expo-Zulia is a temporary marketplace where the zulians show a great deal products that characterize our region. Many merchants, stores, companies and artisans offer their products at reasonably low prices.  Many “gaiteros” gather in front of the basilica to sing their best gaitas to please the patron virgin.
This year we are celebrating the XLVI.  Take some time to think what this celebration means to us people from Zulia. Write a post in your blog about her festivities. You can make a poster, include pictures of the chinita and the different fun things we do to celebrate. Tell the world about our traditions. Use the following graph to help you write about the festivity.

Here you have some links where you can find info on this year celebration:

      Alcaldia de Maracaibo
      Blog de la Feria
      Facebook de la feria

Also include a Gaita... what's your favorite? Who sings it? who composed it? why do you like it?

This gaita is about the first homenaje we do for our Chinita: La Bajada de la Virgen

These are the lyrics to this beautiful gaita.

La Bajada de la Virgen - Los Compadres del Exito

Cuando bajan a la virgen el cielo viene con ella.

      I
      Terminaron los pasquines
      Apagaron los faroles
      Y lo negrita Indalecia
      Va vendiendo sus turrones (Bis)

      Coro
      Cuando bajan a la virgen
      El cielo viene con ella
Mi Maracaibo se llena de musical alegría
Y toda la tierra mía del saladillo de siempre
A todo el Zulia lo enciende
Mi gaita que es armonía. (Bis)

      II
      Ya el rosario termino
      La orquesta del alto sano
      Tocan una gaita hermano
De esas del tiempo de u don. (Bis)

      Coro

      III
Ya van a prender los  fuegos
      La placita está repleta
      Truenos en las 15 letras
      Y también cucaracheros. (Bis)

      Coro

      IV
      Y no sé porque razón
      Hoy Rubén el campanero
      Quien siempre enciende los fuegos
Está ausente en el fiestón. (Bis)

Well, the most important thing is that you have fun working on your task... and practice your English.

Keep on shining Love and Peace!

      Blog Action Day: October 16

It’s that time of the year again – get ready to blog for good, all at once, around the world, on a single day in October. Urbe Bloggers will join this adventure for the third time. So first le's look at what Blog Action Day is:

      WHAT IS BLOG ACTION DAY?

Since 2007, Blog Action Day has focused bloggers around the world to blog about one important global topic on the same day. Past topics have included water, climate change and poverty.

This year, Blog Action Day will be held on October 16, which coincides with World Food Day, so naturally our 2011 theme is FOOD

Find out more about Blog Action Day

Food is something that we all share in common, but is distinct to each of our cultures. The way we produce, distribute and consume food is crucial to our shared future, and the unhealthy imbalance of food scarcity in developing world and food over-abundance in the developed world is unsustainable for us all.

Blog Action Day 2011 will be an opportunity to open the conversation about how food impacts all of us – individually and globally. Register your blog for Blog Action Day 2011 by clicking the link below:

      Bloggers Sep Dec 2011 form

      Welcome Post! an example.

Hello, everyone!.. since everybody should be working on your first  post in your blogs this week.. This is an example you can follow to write your welcome to my blog post.

      A. Read about Juan. (this is just a model.. feel free to add more to the different paragraphs)

In this blog I will post my school homework for Level 7. I will use it to practice writing, listening, speaking and reading. Also, i will share it with my classmates and people from the world.

My name’s Juan Gonzalez but you can call me Juanchi. I’m from Maracaibo, originally. I live in Maracaibo, in Monte Claro. I’m 20 years old and I study engineering at URBE . My favorite subjects are mathematics and English. This trimester I am taking 4 classes and I am in the 7th trimester.

      talking on the phone
I love music, dancing, playing soccer, driving my car (I have a red sport car), surfing the net, studying English, talking on the phone with my friends, pizza , chocolate, my family , my country and my dog. I also enjoy going out with my friends.

I hate onions, listening to hip hop, getting up early on the weekend, violence, war, injustice, and washing the dishes. I can't stand people smoking.

      Eiffel Tower
My dream is to travel around the world, visit the Pyramids in Egypt and The Eiffel Tower in Paris. Of course, I want to graduate from Engineering School and be a good engineer. I also want to learn to speak French, and Italian. I’d love to work in an important company and buy a house, get married and start a family.

About English, I love to learn new languages. I think English is very important. What do I do to practice my English? well, I listen to music and watch TV in English. It’s a good exercise. I also chat on the internet and have friends in many countries. I use social networks like facebook and twitter to connect to people around the world and make friends. I can write well, but I need to practice more. The most difficult for me is speaking. I want to practice in class and out of class, too. I hope I can make a lot of friends and practice speaking in this class.

Well, This is a little bit about me. Hope you liked it... Please, leave a comment!

Keep on Shining Love and Peace!
      Juanchi

      B. Now it’s your turn to write about yourself. Add your picture.

      C. It's time to meet two new friends. Use these questions to interview your new friends.

What’s your name? Where are you from? What school in URBE are you from? How old are you? Where do you live?

How to mind map for your project
